JAPANESE FLEET
VICINITY OF BORNEO (Reed. Dec. 2, 2.30 p.m.) MANILA, Dec. 1. Informed circles in Manila said to-day that a Japanese fleet headed by 16 heavy cruisers and some aircraft carriei’s was believed to be in the vicinity of southern Japanesemandated islands within easy striking distance of British Borneo. Military reports in Manila estimated that 100,000 Japanese troops are now ir. Indo China and reinforcements are arriving constantly.
