MORE BIRTHS IN WAIROA

There were more births registered in Wairoa, both European and Maori, in the first 11 months of this year than in the same period last year, and an increase in deaths is also noted in the figures compiled by the registrar, Mr. H. G. Jamieson. Details of the vital statistics are as follows, the figures for last year being given in parentheses:—
Total for 11 months. —Births. European 153 (140), Maori 86 (73); deaths, European 54 (45), Maori 37 (36); marriage notices, 23 (39); marriages by registrar, 7 (6). Totals for November. — Births, European 9 (12), Maori 13 (7); deaths, European 3 (5), Maori 2 (3); marriage notices by registrar (2).
