RAILWAY STATION TIP
THREAT OF CLOSURE A proposal that the controlled tip at the railway station may have to be closed during the summer should further difficulty be encountered war placed before last night’s meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council by the town clerk, Mr. W. M. Jenkins. “A number of complaints were received regarding an offensive smell emanating from the controlled tip at the railway station,” Mr. Jenkins said. “An inspection revealed that the nuisance was due to lack of suitable covering. Should this difficulty continue it will be necessary to consider closing the tip during the summer months and divert all refuse to the old tip in Awapuni road.” The works committee was asked to report on the matter.
