N.Z. AIR CASUALTIES
FIVE MEN KILLED THREE HELD PRISONER (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The following Royal New Zealand Air Force casualties were announced to-day:— Pilot-Officer Walter John Allatt, killed in action. His father is Mr. A. V. Allatt, Morrinsville. Pilot-Officer Laurence Philip Bourke, missing on air operations. His mother is Mrs. L. Bourke, Palmerston North. Sergeant Douglas Anthony Wither, killed as a result of an aircraft accident. His mother is Mrs. M. Wither, Dunedin. Sergeant Thomas Patrick Duffy, previously reported missing, now reclassified as a prisoner of war and wounded. His father is Mr. F. Duffy, Martinborough. Pilot-Officer Edwin Houghton, previously reported missing, believed’ a prisoner of war, now reclassified as a prisoner of war. His father is Mr. E. W. Houghton, Palmerston North. Sergeant Lawrence Beresford Hope, previously reported missing, believed a prisoner of war, now confirmed as a prisoner of war. His father is Mr. P. D. Hope, French Pass, Marlborough. Sergeant John Cuthbert McKechnic Gibson, previously reported missing, believed killed in action. His wife is Mrs. J. C. Gibson, Wellington. Pilot-Officer Alexander Cairns Anderson, previously reported missing, now reclassified as missing, believed killed in action. His sister is Mrs. J. M. Anderson, Sydney. Sergeant Stuart Hayden Macdonald, previously reported missing, believed killed, death now officially presumed by the Air Ministry to have occurred in October, 1940. His wife is Mrs. S. H. Macdonald, Wellington.
