The rate of destruction of Axis shipping by the Mediterranean Fleet in the last two months has been kept at the 'high level maintained during August and September. An analysis of Admiralty communiques shows that 68 ships of all kinds were sunk or .damaged from October 1 to November 28, compared with 71 in the previous two months. In reference to the Axis claims to have sunk or damaged the battleship Malaya, which seems to have taken the place of the celebrated Ark Royal in the enemy’s imagination, it is officially stated that the Malaya is quite safe and sound. Neither is the Axis claim to have accounted for three British submarines confirmed in official quarters., . The cruiser Manchester is undergoing repairs in the United States.
