GERMANS’ ESCAPE
SOMES ISLAND CAMP SMALL BOAT EMPLOYED SEARCH BY THE POLICE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Three German internees escaped in a small boat last night from Somes Island. Police and detectives are carrying out a widespread search. The men are:— Hans Finke, born about 1911, sft. 7in., dark complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, thick lips and pointed chin. Carl Oscar Schroeder, born about 1918, 6ft. lin., fresh face, fair to reddish complexion and fair hair. Frederick George Theodor ’ Strewe, 6ft. lin., fair complexion, fair hair, blue eyes. Finke has a scar on the right forearm and may be wearing grey or blue clothes. Schroeder is understood to be tattooed on both arms.
