£276 NET SURPLUS REPORT TO COMMITTEE .Much satisfaction was expressed ot a meeting of the Poverty Bay Women’s Central Representative Committee, held last evening concerning the outcome ol the catei ing effort at the annual A. and P .Show. The women's committee undertook the catering, for third year in succession, on behalf of the East Coast Provincial Patriotic Council. A statement showing receipts and expenditure was submitted to last night’s meeting by Miss N. It was (jointed out that the charges for service were lowered this year, and that in consequence the gross receipts were smaller. On the other hand, the utmost economy had been observed in all matters of expenditure. and a great deal of voluntary help was received, enabling the committee to reduce expense to a minimum. Tire margin between net and gross receipts was considered to be exceptionally low. The committee recorded its thanks to all who had assisted in the effort, by way of donations or/personal service.

With much regret, the committee received from Mrs. W. A. McCliskie an intimation that she desired to resign from the chairmanship of the committee. Several speakers paid tribute to Mrs. McCliskie’s energy and ability, and expressed regret that she was unable to continue in her onerous work.

The chairmanship was filled by the appointment of Mrs. P. Hockley, who will hold office for the balance of the year. The annual meeting takes place in April.
