SIX WEEKS’ GAOL
NAPIER BOOKMAKER (Per Presß Association.) NAPIER, this day. Arthur Joseph Yeo, 48. was sentenced to six weeks’ imprisonment on a charge of bookmaking. The magistrate said a man could not look upon fines as a licence, and imprisonment was one way of stopping that. On a further charge, of being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a car, he >vas sentenced .to one week, the sentences to be cumulative.
For resisting the police, the same accused was fined £5. His driving licence was suspended and he was forbidden to secure another for a year.
