LINEN FLAX GROWING
BRITISH PRODUCTION 50,000 ACRES WANTED (Reed. Nov. 28. 10 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 27. The Ministry of Supply is encouraging, by a guarantee, British farmers to grow 50,000 acres of flax next spring, with the object of meeting the increasing needs of the services and also providing linen for export to America. The Daily Telegraph, in reporting this, says ' that £.0,000 acres were grown last spring. 1 In Northern Ireland the acreage is nearly 100,000, fivefold the peace-time figure.
