Increase in Patients
“It is estimated that the social security scheme has increased the number of hospital patients by 20 per cent.,” said Dr. H. L. Widdowson, medical superintendent of the Wanganui Public Hospital, at a meeting of the Wanganui Hospital Board, referring to the demand for hospital accommodation. The bed state in the Wanganui Hospital was the highest it had ever been, he said. During October 399 patients were admitted to hospital, 358 were discharged, and 217 remained at the end of the month. The daily average of occupied beds was more than 211. RESISTANT TO COLDS! “Can't think how you keep free from colds —the town’s full of them!” “Ah! Boh . . . here's my safeguard!” And Jim pulled a tin of Pulmonas from his pocket. Pulmonas act by 2-way relief . . . inhalation through breathing passages . . . absorption through blood stream. Pulmonas destroy cold-germs. Keep Pulmonas in your mouth. From all chemists and stores—l/1, 1/7, 2/7.*
