WOMAN KILLED
ATTACK IN HOME SLAIN WITH HAMMER PALMERSTON TRAGEDY (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ this day. The wife of Mr. Frederick Joseph Speight, a commercial traveller, was killed as she was sitting at her sewing machine in the living room of her house, 245 Park road, Palmerston North, last night. The attack was made by a person at present unknown, but a man was seen to leave the place hurriedly on a bicycle a few minutes after. Neighbours, alarmed by the woman’s screams, summoned the police. The crime was committed with a hammer. The husbiy.d was not home. The only_j>on, a boy aged 12, was at the pictures.
