SPEEDING CYCLISTS
The danger lo pedestrians arising from speeding on bicycles by youths and boys was emphasised by Mr. H. W. Bundle. S.M.. in Dunedin, when four youths were charged with carelessly riding bicycles. The magistrate recalled how, only a few days previously, he had conducted an inquest into the death of a woman who had been killed by a careless cyclist. “From personal observation,” he said, “I can describe boys of this type as an aboslute menace. They regard no rules of safety, speed or consideration for others, and this practice of furious cycling on hills will have to be checked.” Mr. Bundle adjourned the charges for three months, making it a condition that for a month none of the defendants should ride a bicvcle on any hill in the city.
