WORKERS’ REPORT Gross proceeds from the sale of ice-cream, drinks, sweets, and minor items i'vom stalls at the Gisborne Show, conducted on behalf of the patriotic funds by the social committee of the Gisborne Returnee: Soldiers' Association, totalled £557. After expenses were paid, the committee had a surplus of £262 17s 2d to hand to the East Coast Provincial Patriotic Council. A report to this effect was made at a meeting of the committee held on Monday evening, when Messrs. A. H. Barwick, chairman, and A, H Miller, secretary, reviewed the work of the stall staffs with much satisfaction. At one stall, the gross takings for the two days were £220: at another. £125 was taken, while the two smaller stalls grossed £B6 and £SB respectively. Sales of tickets in ;• weight-estimating competition for a bullock yielded £4l 19s, and a similar competition with a wether as the subject produced £2B Gs. 17,000 Ice Cream Sales The committee found much interest in an analysis of the sales from the stalls, which showed that about 7.800 threepenny ices and 1.800 sixpenny ices, in addition to 7.531 Alaska pies had been disposed of to the Show crowds. Sales of soft drinks represented 5.9G7 bottles. An expression of thanks from the executive was conveyed to the committee by Mr. Barwick, and in supporting his remarks Mr. G. C. Jones commented that the work being done by, or on behalf of the association in connection with patriotic funds, helped to establish the association’s right to discuss the disposal of such funds.

Mrs. H. Hunter pointed out that lady members of the committee had had the earnest assistance of three parties of co-opted workers in conducting the showground stalls, these comprising Mrs. W. D. Morley’s party, Mrs, P. A. Pettit’s party, and a group of the War Emergency Corps girls. Mrs, A. Dickson, another co-opted worker, also had given much assistance. On the motion o? Mrs. Hunter, these workers were tendered a hearty vote of thanks for their co-operation.
