HOME GUARD UNITS

COMPANIES FOR DUTY SCHEDULED PARADES The institution of a roster of duties for the various companies in the Gisborne Battalion, Home Guard, is notified in the current week’s routine orders, issued by Major H. Miller, M.C., commanding officer. Under the roster system, one company will be detailed for duty in each week, and will provide working parties as these may be found necessary, and as instructed by the adjutant. One non-commissioned officer and 11 men will be held at the disposal of the battalion serg-eant-major at all times. Under the heading of transport, company commanders are advised that Home Guard units may now retain motor vehicles, found within the unit for its own use, at the rate of one light truck, or its equivalent, per platoon. Commanders are advised to furnish lists of vehicles suitable for use under this arrangement.
