KOPUAWHARA NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) A large assembly of friends met at the dining-room of No. 2 Camp, Kopuawhara. on Friday night, being the guests of Mrs. Kireka in honour of her daughter 1 Joan’s sixteenth birthday. The guests were treated to a sumptuous supper, after which they danced to music supplied by Mr. J. Rarere on his piano accordion. Maori songs were sung by a trio of Maoris, and all participated in some enjoyable community singing. A varied collection of presents was displayed. Mrs. E. Fairlie, Mr. H. Taylor, Mr. R. Nathan and Mr. A. O, K. Sim visited Nuhaka on Saturday for the opening of the tennis court on Mr. J. Crombie’s premises. At a general meeting representative of the various clubs of the community it was decided to treat the children of the camp to a Christmas tree festival to be' held on Saturday, December 20. Four women werechosen to purchase suitable presents for 120 children. For this purpose, and to augment the funds already in hand, the committee decided to hold a cards and dance evening in the Y.M.C.A. hall, on December,, 12.
