COOK HOSPITAL POST DR. HALL'S TRIBUTE The Cook Hospital Board yesterday received notice from the lady superintendent, Miss G. M. Leipst, of her intention to resign her post as from Tanuary 31, 1942. Miss Leipst's resignation was forwarded through the medical superintendent, Dr. ! R. J. ,B. Hall, who paid a warm tribute to the lady superintendent's faithful and efficient service over a period when the number of occupied beds rose from about 100 to the present average of 160, and had had the task ol' building up the nursing staff from a total of 60 to the present figure of 96. Miss Leipst, said Dr. Hall, had been working under difficulties in keeping up the staff strength, in competition with attractive avenues of employment elsewhere, ana the demand for the services, in many directions, of the capable types of young women who in earlier years might have sought their careers in the nursing profession.

The board received the notice of Miss Lcipst’s resignation, and asked the managing-secretary, Mr. C. A. Harries, to furnish details of superannuation allowances due to Miss Leipst. Miss Runciman’s New Post The board adopted a proposal from the finance committee that the position of lady superintendent be advertised at a salary rate of £350 per annum, the p'escribed salary for Class II hospitals. A letter received later in the meeting conveyed the resignation of Miss Runciman. temporary home sister, who stated that she had been appointed sub-matron of the Whnkatane Hospital. The chairman, Mr. M. T. TrafTord, stated that Sister Runciman had rendered valuable service to the board, and had. exerted a considerable influence with the younger nurses, in particular.
