CONSCRIPTION PLAN AUSTRALIAN FORCES MINISTER’S STAND (Reed. Nov. 25, 9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Nov. 24. A warning to advocates of conscription has been issued by the executive o( (he Australasian Council of Trade Unions, The council adopted a resolution declaring that if the conscription issue were raised now, it would split the Australian people, with disastrous results to the war effort. Tlio council also resolved “to call the attention of the Australian people to the oft-expressed policy of the trade union movement in opposition to conscription for service overseas.” During the week-end, the Minister of the Army, Mr. F. M. Forde, and the Minister of the Navy, Mr. N. J. O. Makin. spoke supporting the Prime Minister. Mr. J. Curtin, in the contention that conscription would divide Australia.
