SPORT AT BUSHMERE

(Herald Correspondent.) The Kia Ora club's tennis courts and bowling greens proved popular during the weekend, when there was a good attendance of players. Tennis players started the first round of the season for the Chrisp Cup. Handicap mixed doubles were played and some excellent sets were witnessed. The winners were S. Flood and Misses P. Lange and P. Parker, equal. Those taking part included Mesdames L. Bade, R. Grayson, and H. O’Connell (Te Karaka); Misses B. Parker, N. Houghton, W. Fenton, M. Vette, E. Ridgway, E. Livingstone, P. Parker, P. Lange, and L. Kent. The first competition for the Barbour Stars was played between J. Martin and Miss P. Houghton mid J. Ingram and Miss B. Parker. The former pair, the holders, emerged the winners 50—48 after a close game. Next week-end an inter-club match with the Patutahi club will he held on the Kia Ora courts. Bowls results were:—J. Knin, Robinson, J. T. Herbert 23 v. Clarke, Henshaw, J. (foodall 21 ; Stewart, C. Tietjen, Henshaw 23 V. Clurke, Robison, W. Marshall, 21. Luncheon and afternoon tea were served by the ladies.
