STORMY AIR TRIP

MR. A. DUFF COOPER VISIT TO CHRISTCHURCH (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Mr. A. Duff Cooper, the British Minister on a special mission to the Far East, and Lady Diana Duff Cooper arrived in Christchurch by air from Auckland on Saturday. The aeroplane was delayed by bad weather and at one stage the pilot considered the possibility of having to turn back. However, the journey was continued and, escorted by a bomber from Wigram over the last stages, the plane landed safely at 2.15 p.m., two hours behind schedule time.

Mr. Duff Cooper and Lady Diana spent the week-end as the guests of the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, and Lady Newall at their Christchurch home. On Saturday evening Mr. Duff Cooper and Lady Diana were given a civic reception. To-day they are returning by air to Wellington.
