DRUIDS’ LODGE

QUARTERLY MEETING The quarterly meeting of Lodge Turanganui, No. 7, U.A.0.D., was held in the Masonic Hall on Thursday night. The A.D., Mr. F. Pollard, presided over a fair attendance of members. The principal business was the nomination and election of officers for the ensuing term, there being keen competition for several of the chairs. Officers were filled as follows:—A.D., Mr. Denham; V.A., Mr. G. M. Breingan; 1.G., Mr.. Duckworth; 0.G., Mr. Crosby; Arch Bards, Messrs. Henzler and S. Breingan; V.A. Bard, Mr. Izod; minute secretary, Mr. J. A. Eaton; M.C., Mr. A. Craill. The installation ceremony will take place next lodge night. Included in the correspondence were letters from the Grand Lodge in connection with the working of the social security legislation as regards the doctors' and friendly societies. It was pointed out that the arrangements between the medical officers and the individual branch lodges was a matter between the doctors and the lodges concerned. Messrs M. W. Craig and F. Williams, secretary and treasurer respectively, were appointed to interview the lodge doctor on the question.

Messrs. Pollard and H. Craill Were appointed to represent the lodge at the sixth-seventh anniversary banquet of the Loyal Gisborne Lodge on Monday, December 1. The bards’ report on sick members was satisfactory, and sick pay, £33 Is Bd, was passed for payment. The Grand Lodge forwarded cheques for £l3O in settlement of local funeral claims.

Two rinks skipped by Jackson and McCarthy respectively, were selected to represent the order at the next indoor bowling tournament on November 26.
