JAM-MAKING SEASON The monthly meeting of the Cook County Women’s Guild was held at the Heni Materoa Children’s Home on Tuesday, Mrs. H. G. Wellborne presiding and the following also being present: Mesdames A. F. Hall, I. J. -Quigley, J. Williams, H. A. Angell, H. Holmes, E. R. Scott, W. M. Jenkins, T. Munro. and H. Gilmer. In her report, the matron stated that the children were all well. She said she would be grateful for gifts of gooseberries for jam-making. She also expressed her thanks to the following for gifts during the past month: —Hampton’s meat; Evan's, meat; Mr. Reeves, meat; Le Grand Cafe, small goods; Irresistible Bakery, small goods; Blue Bird Home Cookery, small goods; Intermediate School, cakes and sandwiches; Bible class dance, cakes and milk: Gisborne Bowling Club, cakes; Capt. Cook Lodge, calces and scones; Mrs. Alexander, cakes; National Party, scones and sandwiches; Woohvorths, sweets; “Six Patriots,” lemons and butter; A. and P. Show, tickets.
