CLASHES IN CHANNEL

E-BOATS SUNK & DAMAGED (Reed. Nov. 22, 10 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 21. An Admiralty communique reports that an E-boat was sunk, two others probably sunk and also other damaged during engagements between our naval patrols and enemy coastal forces, apparently in the English Channel, on Wednesday night. “Shortly before midnight an engagement took place off the east coast in which two E-boats were probably sunk without damage to our forces. “In the early hours of yesterday morning, one of our patrols, consisting of two light craft, encountered six E-boats. Our patrols at once engaged, closing the range to within 200 yards. This action lasted about half an hour, during which one E-boat was certainly sunk and others hard hit. and damaged. Our patrols suffered no casualties, although minor damage was sustained by these two vessels. It was after this engagement that fighters of the Royal Air Force located the E-boats on their way back to their base and sank one and damaged a second.”
