Mr. C. J. Pugsley, manager for New Zealand for the Southern Cross Assurance Company, arrived in Gisborne on Thursday and is staying at the Masonic Hotel. Mr. R. C. Addison, resident inspector of the Bank of New South Wales, Wellington, arrived at Gisborne this afternoon., He will be staying here for a few days.

The Bishop of Nelson, the Rt. Rev. P. W. Stephenson, arrived at Gisborne yesterday, after staying the previous night in Wairoa. During his visit to the Gisborne district he will conduct confirmation services, making a start in Tolaga Bay last night. Similar services are to be held in Waerenga-a-hika to-night and in Te Karaka and Gisborne to-morrow, while on his return to Wairoa on Monday he will conduct a further service there. The number of candidates coming forward for confirmation at the Holy Trinity Church, Gisborne, to-morrow totals 133, which is a record for the parish. Two services will be held at Holy Trinity, one in the afternoon and the other in the evening. 1
