VISIT TO FIJI

CHIEFS OF STAFF MR. JONES & MR. COATES (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. In an interview in Auckland last night, the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, stated that the Hon. F. Jones and the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates and the chiefs of staff and other officials had returned from a brief visit to Fiji, where they had made an inspection of the defences and aerodrome facilities and had also been engaged in financial discussions with the Fiji Government.

Mr. Fraser said he had been extremely gratified to receive such excellent reports of the state of health and good spirits of the members of the New Zealand forces in Fiji and of the work they had accomplished. The members of the party had also expressed their deep appreciation of the hospitality and assistance extended to them during their visit by the Governor, Sir Harry Luke, and they had [referred with particular pleasure to the splendid feeling displayed by the Government of Fiji towards this Dominion.
