STAMP DUTY EVADED
Although receiving his rents from tenants each fortnight, William Alexander Ifoey entered the sums weekly in the rent books and so evaded any payment of stamp duty, said Detective J. B. Finlay in the Whangarei Court when Iloey pleaded guilty to six charges of evading the payment of stamp duty. By this method over a number of years Hoey had evaded nearly £7 in stamp duty. Mr. Raymond Ferner, S.M., fined Hoey 30s or each of the six charges.
