MIDDLE EAST INQUIRY BRITISH OFFICIAL (British Official Wireless.) Red. 10 a.m. RUGBY, Nov. 19. Mr. Allan Chapman, assistant Post-master-General, has just returned from the Middle East, where he discussed war-time postal problems with civilian and military authorities. Covering 15,000 miles, mainly by aeroplane, he visited Egypt, the Western Desert, Mediterranean Fleet, Palestine, Syria, Cyprus, Iraq, Malta, Gambut, Nigeria, and the Sudan. The average airgraphs sent from Britain overseas is now 168,000 a week and inwards 158,000 a week. The aeroplane by which Mr. Chapman travelled carried 500,000 airgraphs. This, though equivalent to about six tons of letters, weighed only 1381 b. l.
