FRENCH VICHY TROOPS

FORCE AT SALONIKA SYRIA RECONQUEST TALK (Reed. Nov. 20, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 19. The Cairo correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says that 5000 French troops who were released from prison camps arrived at Salonika in July to participate in the Syrian campaign, and were retained after the armistice for garrison duties. The French force in Salonika is now reported to be 30,000. The troops are partially mechanised. They are not performing garrison duties, but consider themselves a spearhead for the reconquest of Syria with the slogan “Syria in two months.” It is suggested they may possibly synchronise the conquest with a German advance on Batumi
