“STICK IT OUT”
HOME GUARD EQUIPMENT
Referring to the work of the E.P.S. and the Home Guard at the extraordinary general meeting of the Dominion council of the N.Z.R.S.A. in Wellington,, the president, the Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C., said that members of the Home Guard must assume that the Government was doing its best to assure that the Home Guard would have equipment as soon as possible. He personally knew that tremendous efforts had been made and that no stone was being left unturned. He asked soldiers of the last war who were in the Home Guard to be a stabilising influence on other members. They must exercise patience. They should remember that Hitler m 1933 trained his army without much equipment. He introduced conscription, and shovels and picks were used ments, and particularly in the moving merits, and particarlv in the moving of large bodies of men expeditiously from place to place. In view qf the fact that the Home Guard might have to fight in New Zealand, it should be provided with equipment as soon 'as possible, but men in the Home Guard now must realise that they must stay in it. and train, until the eauipment arrived, as much valuable time would be saved.
