CAPTIVES IN CRETE
CONDITION SATISFACTORY TRANSFER TO GERMANY (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 11.30 a.m. RUGBY, Oct. 30. Information has been received in London that 23 British or Imperial officers and 943 other ranks were prisoners in Crete in September, and their condition appeared to be satisfactory. The number of prisoners of war in the island had thus already been greatly reduced. It is stated that they are being gradually transferred to Germany. In Greece it is stated that from the beginning of October only about 600 men will be left in Kokina Hospital, near Piraeus.
