BAND UNIFORMS
FUND NEARING GOAL ADDITIONAL PLAYERS Funds required for outfitting the Gisborne City Band with new uniforms are nearing the goal aimed at by the bandmaster, Mr. A. Wood, when the appeal was opened recently with the support of the Mayor, Mr. N. 11. Bull. The public has contributed more than £250, and the bandsmen have been able to find-a further sum which leaves about £25 or £3O to be raised before the order ’ for .uniforms can be placed. ?
One consequence . of. the renewed interest in the City Band among the public is that former members of the band are offering their services. These are naturally welcomed by the bandmaster and bandsmen, and the accession to the strength will make the band a .more, efficient organisation generally. The increase in numbers, it was stated to-day by the bandmaster, meant that further money would be required for uniforms, and the original goal of £250 did not now represent the end of the campaign.
A statement of the fund will be made available at the close of the effort, said Mr, Wood. The generosity with which the public had supported the appeal had been warmly appreciated by the bandsmen. Further Donations
