OVER 4,000,000 TONS
ENEMY SEA LOSSES HEAVY TOLL SINCE JUNE (British Official Wireless.) Reed 11.30 a.m. RUGBY, Aug. 19. It is officially revealed in London that the total enemy tonnage lost—captured, sunk and scuttled up to August 8 was 4,007,000 tons, comprising 2,321,000 tons of German, 1,533,000 tons of Italian, 34,000 tons of Finnish, and 119,000 tons useful to the enemy. Of just over 4,000,000 tons, 796,000 tons have been sunk since June 10. These figures include 51 ships, of an estimated tonnage of 200,000 tons, claimed to have been sunk by the Russians.
