FARM LABOUR SHORT
SERIOUS VIEW TAKEN “The position regarding farm labour is really very serious,” said a director of the Franklin Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, al the annual meeting of the company in Tunkau. "With the best will in the world the farmer cannot keep up his production unless he can get more labour: ' The Government is well aware of the position, but every time the question is brought up it merely gives us more soothing words, and nothing is done. When the rush period in November and December comes in the farmer is going to be really up against it.” The following resolution was carried unanimously: “That this meeting expresses its apprehension regarding the farm labour position, and also its disaoDointment that the Government, in spite of numerous protests made, has not managed to take any adequate steps to deal with the position.”
