PERSONAL
Mr. R. J. Patty, harbour dredgemaster, will enter the Royal New Zealand Air Force depot at Wigram this week as a member of the radio section. He is a well-known experimenter who in the early days of radio telephony shared with Messrs. I. H. O'Meara and P. R. Stevens, also of Gisborne, an impressive record ol' twoway communication with distant points overseas. His son, Sapper R'. W. Patty, is serving in Britain with a New Zealand Forestry Company. Both father and son have been prominent in sport, Mr.’Patty, sen., having been a notable oarsman, while his son was a representative Rugby football player in Gisborne. Mr. R. J. Patty has been training with the No. 8 Gisborne Company, National Military Reserve, with the rank of corporal.
