Going to Jericho
To invite a man lo “go to Jericho’ lias a deeper and more sinister meaning than those who, lightly use the' expression, probably realise. According to Mr. G. A. Hamilton, who gave an address on. the Holy Land at a meeting of the Southland Travel Club, that city of that name leaves much to be desired. "It is a filthy place,” he said, “lull of disease and dirt and every germ and insect seems to drift in there and never drift out again. We used to call it ‘Early Spring,’ because as soon as a man sat down anywhere lie was sure lo stand up again with surprising '-speed and agility as ,a result of a bite from a scorpion or some other pest.
