Home Guard Manoeuvres
Manoeuvres of an extensive nature are to be carried out by the Hastings Battalion of the Home Guard in the next few weeks. 'On Sunday the battalion marches to Roy’s Hill, where most of the day will be spent in a tactical exercise, for which much planning has been dpne, and on August 25 rnd September 1 night operations will be carried out in the same locality! The defending forces will use blank ammunition, and arrangements have been made for fireworks to be let off as a signal that intense fire has been opened, against the attacking force.
