OBITUARY
DEATH AT 93 An old resident of Mount Eden, known to a wide circle of friends both in Auckland and in the Waikato district, Mrs. Priscilla Hargood, has died in her ninety-fourth year. Born at West Town, near Bristol, on October 9, 1847, Mrs. Hargood was a daughter of a Somerset ropemaker, Mr. Henry Garland. She retained vivid memories of her grandfather, who was a veteran of'the Napoleonic Wars. Mrs. Hargood - was married three times. She came to New Zealand with her. first husband, Mr. David Broome, in the sailing ship Lady Jocelyn, land:ng at Auckland on January 6, 1881. Mr. Broome died after farming in the Cambridge district for several years, and subsequently his widow married Mr. R. B. McChesney. After Mr. McChesney’s death she acted as postmistress at Tamahere for several years. Later she married Mr. J. D. Hargood, who died some years ago. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. CooperSmith, with whom she lived! and one son.
