KOPUAWHARA PARTY
(Herald Correspondent.) At their home in Kopuawhara Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Hart, in co-operation with'a number of mutual friends, gave a delightful birthday party in honour of Miss Joan Leighton. Large, shaded marigolds were used with artistic effect in the decoration of the draw-ing-room, which, warmed by a cheerful log fire, contrasted pleasantly with the wintry weather conditions prevailing outside. Mrs. Hart was wearing a smart bottle-green suit, while Miss Deighton wore a becoming frock of floral silk. A most enjoyable time w 7 as spent by the guests, who entered whole-heart-edly into numerous hilarious games, amusing competitions, and merry songs. A delicious supper, served informally, was preceded by a number of toasts, including the health of the principal guest and the host and hostess. A special feature of the evening was the cutting, by the guest of honour, of a beautiful birthday cake,, the handiwork of Mrs. A. A. Swannel.l, and the gift of the ladies present.
