N.Z. CLUBS IN EGYPT
HELPERS FROM DOMINION GISBORNE GIRLS CHOSEN (Special to the Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones announced to-day that, at the request of Major-General B. C. Freyberg, arrangements were being made for a number of young unmarried women to proceed to the Middle East to help in the New Zealand Forces Club and similar institutions established for the welfare of our troops. In order to make selections, a committee pf the Women’s War Service Auxiliary was appointed, and 30 women were selected and medically passed and now are being provided with uniforms. They come from all parts of New Zealand and are of a good type. Among those selected are Misses P. Burke and I. Somervell, Gisborne, and Miss K. Hodder, Napier. Miss Somervell is a member of the Women’s Auxiliary in Gisborne and Miss Burke is in the Women’s War Service Auxiliary.
