NO TERRITORIAL AIMS SYRIA AND LEBANON (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 3 p.m. RUGBY, Aug. 14. Captain Oliver Lyttelton has sent a message to the leader of the Free French Forces, General de Gaulle, stating that he is happy to repeat that Britain has no interests in Syria and Lebanon, except to win the war without encroaching on the position of France. ‘‘We have both pledged the independence of Syria ana Lebanon,” he said. “We admit that France should have predominant positions in Syria and Lebanon.” General de Gaulle replied expressing happiness at the renewed assurances. “Free France, that is France, is resolved to pursue the war by the side of Britain until victory against the common enemies is assured,” he said.
