THREAT TO POSITIONS
AUSTRALIAN LEADERS MALCONTENT MEMBERS (Reed. Aug. 15. 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 15. The Melbourne correspondent of the Sydney Sun says that both the leadershiD of Mr. R. G. Menzies, Prime Minister, and Mr. J. Curtin, of GoLabour Party, are now threatened in the crisis developing ominously from the proposals that Mr. Menzies should go to London. Influential Labour members are angered by Mr. Curtin’s support for Mr. Menzies, while the rebel Government members are watching for a chance of displacing their leader and furthering their own political ambitions. Thus, against the clouded background of the Far Eastern situation, Mr. Menzies and Mr. Curtin stand a the crossroads of their political careers.
