RUGBY, Aug. 13. “In spite of bad weather last night, aircraft of/ the Bomber Command made heavy attacks on Germany over a wide area,” states an Air Ministry communique. “The main objectives were targets in Berlin, industries in the Magdeburg and Hanover districts, and Krupps armament works at Essen. “In Berlin large fires were increasing their hold when our aircraft left, and much damage was also done in other attacks. Objectives were also bombed in many other places in Germany, including Stettin, Kiel, Bremen, Osnabruck, Duisburg, and Cologne, aerodromes in Holland, and the docks at Le Havre. From all these operations 13 bombers are missing. “Fighter Command aircraft attacked aerodromes in occupied territory. Coastal Command planes attacked shipping, harbours and aerodromes.” A Berlin communique reports that the Royal Air Force raided western, central and north-western Germany last night and dropped a “small number’’ of high explosive bombs, some of which fell on dwellings in the suburbs of Berlin and caused a few dead and wounded. Ten raiders were shot down.
