Our fighters also carried out several sweeps over northern France during the day. No opposition front enemy fighters was encountered.” A big Royal Air Force striking force passed over a south-east coast town this afternoon, according to agency messages, and swept across' the Channel in the direction of the French coast between Boulogne and Calais. An official communique states: “There is nothing to report regarding air activity over Britain to-day.” An Admiralty communique says: “A Keinkel 111 was shot down into the sea last night' by’ anti-aircraft fire from a group of our minesweepers.
