MINUTE’S SILENCE
CHIMING OF BIG BEN OBSERVANCE IN N.Z. (Reed. Aug. 9,2 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 8. Mr. E. Thurtle (Lab., Shoreditch) indicated in the House of Commons that the Government was interested in the fact that New Zealand Parliamentarians listened for a minute to the chimes of Big Ben at 9 p.m. The Minister of Information is arranging to give the idea publicity, but whether it is adopted by other countries is a matter for them.
