STAKE RAISED TO £3500 (Per Press Association*) w AUCKLAND, this day. The era of racing prosperity in the Dominion, particularly in the Auckland province, is reflected in the decision of the committee of the Auckland Racing Club to increase the stake money lor the next Auckland Cup, at Ellerslic on Boxing Day, to £3500. Last year the cup race, valued at £3OOO, was won by the top-weight, Beau Vito, 9st. Olb.. from Old Bill, 9st. In the pre-depression 1921-22 season, the cup event was valued at £3500. It was won by Mr. H. A. Knight’s rank outsider, Malaga, carrying 6st. 11 lb.
