PLAYERS ORDERED OFF

RUGBY IN WAIROA (Herald Correspondent.) A feature of a Rugby match in Wairoa on Saturday in aid of the patriotic funds was the determined stand taken by the referee. Mr. M. G. Mac-kay. who ordered four men oif the field-two from each side. The match was between Eastern anil Western ■md was developing into a freo-tor-all when the referee stepped in. _ The game ended in a win for Western by five points to three. For the winners, tiie forwards all played .veil, James Brownlie, J. Brownlie and Waton being most prominent. For Eastern. M. Smith played a dashing game in Ibe forwards and was ably supported by Aitkeu and turner. In a third grade game Takitimu heat Scouts by six to nil.
