WAIPIRO BAY NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) Red, white and blue streamers combined with flags and intermingled with greenery provided an effective setting in the Trading Company’s Hail, Waipiro Bay, for a “bring and buy” and sale of work organised by the members of the Waipiro Bay Ladies' Patriotic Sewing Circle to raise funds to buy wool and warm materials to make into garments for British war distressed people. There were stalls for the sale of fancy needlework, clothing, cakes, sweets, vegetables and meat. Bran tubs and games proved great attractions for the children. The sum of £SO was raised and a donation of £lO was received from Mr. A. B. Williams, Fuketiti station.
Mrs. J. Hitchins, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. C. R. Otto, has returned to Levin.
