London businessmen, bombed out of their city Dremises, are setting up-new offices, equipped with salvaged and second-hand furniture, in private houses, flats, and hotels, writes the London correspondent of the Sydney Morning Herald. Some blitzed .firms are seeking accommodation outside London, but few suitable country houses are available. Agents report that most business people seeking new accommodation do not desire to leave London. As part of an intense drive S oppd up the war effort on the industrial front, tremendous changes are pending in the organisation of the building and civil engineering industries, with the object of greatly increasing production. Factories, hostels, and other accommodation are urgently needed. Contractors, merchants and plant hirers will be registered under the Ministry of Works, which will regulate conditions of contract and supplies of labour and material. The movement of labour will be officially regulated to secure the fullest con-•»,pr->v<n vvher~ver "°“ded. An industrial innovation will be a corps of registered mobile workers, for which 100,000 volunteers will be sought for a year’s service.
