GERMANY BLAMED
BOMBS IN DUBLIN PROTEST TO BERLIN (Reed. June 3, 10 a.m.) LONDON, June 2. It is officially stated in Dublin, according to a press message, that the bombs dropped in Dublin early on Saturday were German and that a protest is being registered in Berlin. Further bombs were dropped near Arklow County Wicklow, on Sunday. No lives were lost. An official statement issued by the Eire Government reads: “The Government regrets that as a result of bomb's dropped on Dublin during the early hours of Saturday morning at least 29 persons lost their lives and 80 persons were injured. Thirty-one others are still unaccounted for A mother and her six-months-old baby and also an elderly man were killed and 16 persons injured when tenement houses collapsed. Considerable damage was done to property. Further bombs were dropped near Arklow, County Wicklow, early on Sunday morning. No lives , were lost but property was damaged. “Investigations have shown that the bombs dropped were of German origin. The Charge d’Affaires in Berlin has been directed to protest in the strongest possible terms to the German Government against the violation of Irish territory and to claim compensation and reparation for the loss of life, injury suffered, and damage to property. He has also been in•structed to seek definite assurances that German planes will be instructed not to fly over Irish territory or territorial waters.”
