ALL-DAY TRAVEL

TERRITORIAL TRAIN DRAFT FOR WAIOURU TO-MORROW’S DISPATCHES Territorial reservists who have been called up for training with the Ist Battalion, Hawke’s Bay Regiment, will travel from early morning tomorrow until late in the evening to reach their quarters at Waiouru. Others who will be dispatched at the same hour for Foxton, to join the W.E.C.M.R. Regiment, will have a shorter day, but will not reach their camp until late afternoon. The two groups from Gisborne will comprise 88 men, the majority being for infantry units. They will muster at the Abercorn Hall, Ormond road, at 3.30 a.m., and will depart by service cars at 4 a.m. for Wairoa, where they will join a special troop train leaving at 7.50 a.m. for Napier. The Gisborne men will have breakfast at Wairoa, and will be joined there by 20 men from that district.

All the men concerned are balloted reservists, and they will spend three months in camp under intensive instruction. A majority of them have had no previous acquaintance with military training.

A number of instructors drawn from the Ist Hawke’s Bay Regiment; are already in Waiouru, awaiting the j arrival of the new drafts of trainees. These men have previously served j through their three months’ intensive training, and also have completed a j special course for instructors.
