THE KHURJA CASE
APPEAL DISMISSED The appeal* by J. H. JeO'erd. trainer, on behalf of Mr. A. R. Williams, owner ot Khurjti, against the decision of the Wanganui district committee, in upholding the finding of the judicial committee of the Wnugalui Jockey Club in relation to the Matarawa Hack Handicap run on April f>, I Ml, and won by Surveyor-General, was dismissed by the Rneii)g Conference judges. Messrs. J. W. Card, 11. R. Chalmers and R. J. Murphy, in Wellington last week. In their judgment the appeal judges said ‘he members of the judicial committee saw the race and after hearing the evidence submitted found that though there mny have been a crowding it was not a ease for fu"‘.her action, and the district committee, ir. what might be described as a rehearing, on dorsed the finding of the judicial committee. The judges read the evidence adduced nf both hearings and heard the submissions thereon of Mr. Sandilands, stipendiary steward, and Messrs, Jefferd and llrough, trainers, and which in their opinion did not advance the case for appellant.
